Great Flood - June 07

Oddly enough, Austin isn't having too many problems (yet) with all the rain we've gotten. Surrounding areas have flooded a lot. Houses moved, looters...it's craziness! No worries, i'm ok. Today it was actually sunny. It's the first time i've seen sun in about 4 days. Although, tonight it rained again. The kitties were able to go outside and roll around on the walk way.

That's really about all there is. My exciting life. Tonight is one of the first nights that i've been home. It's been nice.

Since I don't have anything in my courtyard but rocks and cats, here are some pictures of el gatos. I also went by Tam's to feed her cats while she's out of town and took some pictures of Noodle. Tam's Luna wanted nothing to do with me and the camera...she's mad Tam's gone. Typical cat behavior...

Noodle (top) & Luna (Tam's - Yes her cat is named after mine...i'm that trendy):

Luna (mine) with her scary eyes (top) & Zoey - I think her self confidence is low because I couldn't get her to lift her head. We'll work on that...

That's all of my cat spam...for now.

Swim Meets

I just got home from my first swim meet. I was a spectator...not a participant. Franny & Grace were having their swim meet. I was there at 8a and left around 3:45. They ended up placing in the top three which is awesome in my opinion. Out of the entire city. I realized today that I probably would've enjoyed swim team. I would have hated mornings but the swimming would've been fun. Kay and I sat there wishing we could swim as well as the 13 year olds do...

I am now home for another 15 minutes before I go to the Round Rock Express game with a group of friends for Reg's birthday.

I am so exhausted...

Catching Up

It seems like it's been awhile. In reality, only a week. I went to GA last Friday for Erin's wedding. I flew from Austin to Houston, sat in the Houston airport for 3.5 hours and then finally made it to Atlanta around 1:30a. To bed at 2:30a to wake at 9:30a. I didn't want to sleep away my day that I was there. Jill and I made some lemon fluff for father's day. I realized when I got home that we didn't even get a chance to eat it! All of us forgot about it in the garage fridge. Oops! The wedding was great. I love my friends. We went to a Tavern after the wedding and were exhausted an hour in. We went to Liz's and hung out for awhile. Liz and Mrs. O did the Shag to Beach Music. It's apparently HUGE in the Carolina's. Comparable to the two step in Texas. They do the Shag. Sunday I woke up and Kat was there. We hung out, got dressed and went to lunch for Father's Day. There were more games and then I had to leave. I sat in the Atlanta airport for 4 hours before that delayed flight left for Houston. Then I ran to my flight to Austin in Houston. It was a HORRID airport weekend. I haven't had that many problems in a really long time while flying. Needless to say, I was relieved to be home Sunday night. Although, I still miss my family and friends more than normal.

This week has been seemingly busy. Softball on Monday and Tuesday and when I came home on Tuesday Zoey was stagnant. She wouldn't move or come to me. She hobbled around and limped up the stairs. I called the vet on Wed. morning and made an appt. The doctor, who needed his thick leather gloves, examined her and as of now she has arthritis in her hip. She's on some sort of anti-inflammatory medicine to see if that's the culprit. If this doesn't work they have to sedate her to x-ray her hips. It seems to be working. She walks around and comes to me now. Which is a relief. I was pretty worried when she wouldn't move on Tuesday night. Poor thing's just old (only 7!!!) and a tidbit overweight (13 lbs). I've been the food police for awhile now, but once this medicine kicks in i'm going to have to talk to the vet about how she can drop some weight to help her poor body.

I am going to go upload wedding pictures now from this past weekend...

What I Did At Work

I realize I shouldn't be as proud as I am, but this is the first time i've attempted this. I hung pegboard today in the Lights Out room! It took awhile and some help from Ruth, but I got it built. SO HAPPY! And it's relatively level.

Charleston Pictures

Here are a few pictures from the trip. For a bunch more, click here

There's a picture of the 18th green slowly falling into the ocean. Us in Tropical Storm Barry, walking on the beach and most of the group (Holly was taking the picture).

Charleston

Today I got home from Charleston. I have the most wonderful friends in the world. We haven't all been together since we were seniors in high school. I arrived Friday morning and Holly and Katie picked me up. We drove to the house and got on our suits to go sit by the pool. Unfortunately the beach right behind our condo had been eroded away and there were sandbags protecting what was left...the 18th green. Liz was driving from North Carolina and got there around 12:30. We all hung out at the pool all day long. We played cards, we swam, we talked, we sat and some napped. A couple of girls went to the grocery store while Liz, Holly, Kat and I walked the beach with Holly's dog, Wrangler. Wrangler LOVES to chase birds. She ran so incredibly fast trying to get the birds and they kept flying away. She NEVER gave up. She also slept really well when we got back to the condo. We had spaghetti and played some games and watched a movie that I had made for all of them. They loved it. They were impressed and couldn't believe how great it was. Which was a hug relief after I spent so much time trying to make is wonderful.

Saturday we woke up to a slight drizzle. It tunred into the beginning path of Tropical Storm Barry. The wind was blowing so hard and it rained all day. We hung out and talked for hours. We played some cards and showered to go to dinner. We were all needing to get out for awhile. We ran to the cars in the rain and ran into the restaurant. We were on the water and in the middle of our wonderful fish and chips the thunder and lighting started. The rain came pouring down and by the end of the night, the parking lot had about 6 inches of water. There was a wake from the cars. Holly and Kat went to get the cars and I looked out in the parking lot just in time to see the wind blow holly and her umbrella back 5 feet. She had to go up behind cars to block the wind so she could make progress. It was hilarious. Getting the cars and pulling them to the front didn't help though, we were all still soaked. We got home and changed into some dry clothes. Some of them went to bed from all the excitement. Katie, Holly, Liz and I stayed up playing cards and Erin watched TV.

This morning we woke up to a much calmer scene. The ocean was still ferocious. The white caps were huge and the surfers were loving every minute. My flight left around 12:30 (an hour late) and as I got to Dallas (late) I ran to see my next gate. Forutnately, I had another hour instead of 10 minutes like I had thought. So I changed some gates, waited on that plane and finally got home an hour and a half after I was supposed to, but all was well. I didn't miss any flights, I had an amazing time and the best part about all of it is that I get to see them all in two weeks at Erin's wedding!

I can't wait for our next vacation together. I laughed so much I think I lost weight!
